Spring or autumn: what to wear for hiking?

Spring or autumn: what to wear for hiking?

How to Dress for Mid-Season Hiking? (Spring / Autumn)

Hiking in spring or autumn is awesome… but dressing for it can be tricky: one moment you’re sweating on the climb, 15 minutes later you’re freezing because of the wind on the ridge. The weather changes fast, trails get muddy, and you have to be ready for anything.

Canadian Peak explains how to gear up smartly, with light and adaptable layers tested in real outdoor conditions.

The 3-Layer Rule, Perfect for Mid-Season Hiking!

1. The Base Layer (Breathable)

This first layer must wick sweat away to avoid moisture on the skin.
Avoid cotton, which traps humidity.

🔹 Long-sleeve technical T-shirt
🔹 Lightweight thermal base layer if chilly in the morning
🔹 Material: breathable polyester or polyamide

2. The Mid Layer (Insulating)

It should bring warmth without making you sweat. Adjust according to the weather.

🔹 Lightweight zipped fleece
🔹 Thin softshell
🔹 Lightweight sleeveless down jacket

Our suggestions:

  • TUGEAK FZ Lightweight Fleece: light, soft, and ultra practical with its full zip. Available in several colors, it fits all hiker styles.
  • VELIANEAK Sleeveless Down Jacket: perfect if you just want to warm your torso without adding bulk to your arms. Ideal to layer over a T-shirt or fleece.

  • REINEAK Women’s Softshell: ergonomic design, feminine cut, protection from bad weather. Simple, effective, essential.

👉 These pieces are easy to put on, take off, and slip in your backpack when it gets warmer.

3. The Outer Layer (Protective)

The last layer protects you from the elements: light rain, wind, humidity.

🔹 Lightweight waterproof jacket
🔹 Compressible parka for colder areas
🔹 Hood + ventilation zipper = big plus

Our suggestions:

  • BAMBOLINEAK Parka: warm and waterproof parka, ideal for cool and wet hikes. Its mid-length design offers excellent protection from wind and rain while keeping a stylish silhouette.

  • TURNA Waterproof Jacket: lightweight, windproof, and compressible. Perfect to always have in your backpack in case of unpredictable weather. Easily worn over a fleece or sweatshirt.
